Self-Managed Co-Housing in France and Germany: Future Prospects in the Context of an Aging Population

Among the various forms of intermediate housing, between residential care and home care, the self-managed group housing of the elderly is still underdeveloped in France. It turns out that it is much more widespread in various countries of Northern Europe, where it appears to be a good solution, both in economic terms (reduction of public spending related to aging) and social (quality of aging that favors autonomy of the person and collective solidarity). The article examines case studies carried out in France and Germany.
