As part of our campaign in the Homelessness Week 2016, HAAG members and staffs took to the streets of Melbourne to highlight the issue of hidden homelessness. Older women are the fastest growing group of homeless people; we are seeing a huge surge in the numbers of women accessing our service due to issues around poverty and housing affordability, and for this reason we call on the government to build more public housing. Thanks to everyone who braved the cold and wet of a wintery Melbourne day to support our cause.
As part of our campaign in the Homelessness Week 2016, HAAG is planning a rally on 1st August 2016 to raise the public awareness of housing difficulty in older people. We need older women who are willing to take part in a demonstration on the day, as well as peole to staff a stall and hand out pamphlets. If you would like to be involved, please contact HAAG on 9654 7389 to RSVP or for further information.
