Women in Super Roadshow: The Housing Crisis Facing Australian Women

10 Nov 2020

Older women were already the fastest growing cohort of the homeless before COVID struck. There is now a very real concern that many will never work again. This has not been helped by a significant lack of explicit policy measures in the recent budget to invest in sectors employing women and those over 50.

At a time when the homeless sector is bracing itself for an influx of need, due to increasing numbers of domestic violence situations arising from the effects of the pandemic, the budget also announced a $41 million cut from federal funding for homelessness services and social housing.

These women are not faceless, they are members, colleagues, peers and friends and family.

If we don’t act now, future generations of women will suffer the same plight.

In our virtual National Road Show, we are taking the opportunity to bring not just one expert speaker to you, but three panels of experts from women’s and homelessness organisations, super funds, and key industry organisations. Our speakers will discuss what is happening on the ground, the policy challenges and opportunities for investing in the affordable housing sector and we will hear from funds as to how they are investing in this sector.

Kobi Maglen from Housing for the Aged Action Group will be speaking at the first session of this event alongside representatives from ISA, ISPT, HESTA, Aware Super, Cbus, Women's Property Initiatives, and more to be announced!

11am, Tuesday 10th of November,
$80
