Ausvotes2019: Where do the parties stand on the issues that matter?
The Federal Election will be held on May 18th. With the rapidly increasing number of older people who are facing an uncertain housing future, the new federal government will need to implement a National Older Persons Housing Strategy to keep older Australians healthy, housed and at home.
A National Older Persons Housing Strategy must address:
- Homelessness and rising housing stress among older people with major investment in public, social and affordable housing. Visit everybodieshome.org.au
- Poverty among older people inneligible for the pension by raising the rate of Newstart Allowance. Visit raisetherate.org.au
- Appropriate support services for older people to navigate housing, health and aged care systems, including supporting the Aged Care Service Navigator as well as a Seniors Housing Gateway Service.
