The Victorian Gender Equality Strategy was launched at the Melbourne Arts Centre by Fiona Richardson, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence. HAAG student Laura attended the event and reports that it made her hopefule for real change to occur in Victoria.

During the launch, Minister Fiona Richardson (Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence) reported a tri-partisan support for the strategy. She highlighted the cumulative impact of disadvantage experienced by women  throughout their lifetime, and spoke of the need to make changes across all domains of every lifespan. In particular, acknowledgement was made concerning women retiring with just half the superannuation savings of men. She shared a future vision to ensure women are able to be financially independent and secure in retirement and old age.
