At every age we all should be able to live in affordable, stable and securing housing. Yet older women are one of the fastest growing population group experiencing insecure housing and homelessness.
As part of International Women’s Day, Dr Kathleen Brasher, Executive Officer Upper Hume Primary Care Partnership, will host a conversation that explores the drivers of insecure housing for older women and how we can ensure that women remain in stable, appropriate housing as they age.

Fiona York, Executive Officer, Housing for the Aged Action Group
Fiona has been working with older people for almost 20 years in a variety of roles within the community sector, including in elder abuse, community aged care, cultural diversity and most recently, in housing. She has worked with Housing for the Aged Action Group since 2016, and has been in the Executive Officer role since May 2018, leading the organisations strong commitment to diversity and advocacy for older people in housing stress.
Dr Katrina Raynor, Post Doctoral Research Fellow in Affordable Housing, University of Melbourne
Dr Raynor is an urban planning scholar with expertise in housing policy, inter-sectoral partnerships for housing delivery, urban consolidation and participatory action research. Katrina is particularly passionate about older women’s homelessness and housing stress. She is currently mapping the key actors and projects working to generate housing for older women in Victoria. Dr Raynor is also can advisory committee member for the Lord Mayors Charitable Foundation’s Affordable Housing Challenge and serves as editor for the Housing Studies Journal.
