We pay tribute to our long-time member Richard Tate who sadly passed away late last year, and play a short clip from his talk to the Unitarian Church about the importance of public housing. We hear from panellists who spoke at last year's At Risk Forum about local solutions to older women's homelessness. First we hear from Erin Dolan, Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation, about the foundations Affordable Housing Challenge funding. Then we hear from Rebecca Oelkers, CEO of the Brisbane Housing Company about their older women's housing project. United in Housing - Cooperatives and the Big Housing Build

Fiona and Shane talk to Peter Sibly, General Manager of United Housing Co-operative, about his new project to build housing for women aged 55 years and older in the Western Suburbs, with a grant from the Victorian Governments Big Housing Build. He talks about co-operative housing as a model for tenant participation and reminisces about the early days of HAAG.

Selma is a 63-year-old woman originally from Bosnia (former Yugoslavia).  Along with her family and many others, Selma was forced to seek refuge in other countries for safety.

Cat’s family approached us some time ago, after she had moved to an aged care facility from a retirement village. Cat had moved to the retirement village in 2005, prior to the current regulations coming into force.

A new report by the Ageing on the Edge NSW Forum is advocating for the NSW Government to adopt the Home at Last program running in Victoria, which provides advice, support and advocacy for older people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The report recommends a comprehensive approach based the tried and tested model in Victoria which has been operating since 2012.
