Choosing between staying at home or moving: A systematic review of factors influencing housing decisions among frail older adults
To date, many factors have been taken into account in research on older adults’ housing decisions, including health and social factors. However, not all potential factors have been identified, especially those related to the built environment and what it represents for older adults.
Thus, our objectives were: 1) to identify all the factors that influence decision-making about housing options among older adults with loss of autonomy; 2) to classify them according to a new adapted framework that combines health, safety and functional autonomy factors with those related to the meaning and experience of home; and 3) to observe which factors had an observed effect in the research and which need further investigation.
