TENANCY AND RETIREMENT HOUSING WORKER

Are you passionate about renters rights?  Want to do work that makes a difference to the lives of older people?  Our Tenancy and Retirement Housing workers are a small team working within our Housing Support Service. This role is focused on helping older residents across private rentals, retirement villages and other housing types.  If you have worked in tenancy or as an advocate and enjoy working with older people, we encourage you to apply.  Flexible and above award conditions, friendly team.

About Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG)

HAAG is a member-based, community organisation specialising in the housing needs of older people. Coming from grass-roots beginnings 40 years ago, HAAG today has over 800 members that actively campaign for housing justice.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Ability to understand and apply relevant legislation such as the Residential Tenancies Act (1997) and Retirement Villages Act (1986).
  • High level communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working in the community sector.
  • Initiative and ability to work both independently and under supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team in a sometimes demanding work environment.
  • Experience working with members of diverse communities including older people, LGBTQIA+ people, people from CALD backgrounds, etc.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively with financially disadvantaged older people
  • A commitment to social justice
