In the face of depopulation, a Spanish village turns itself into a nursing home

An innovative idea combining aged care and rejuvenation of small isolated villages in Spain. The premise behind the project in Pescueza is to provide support for the village's elderly people, without requiring them to give up their homes. The program has been running since 2011, and is funded by the Friends of Pescueza Association, the Democratic Pensions Union (UDP) and the regional government of Extremadura, A village care center was created, their own houses and streets are adapted for their needs, meaning the elderly do not have to be uprooted from their homes and new employment opportunities have arisen.
