We've been asked what today's Federal budget announcement means for older people on unemployment benefits and others who struggle to pay the rent. 

Following on from our successful election campaign which brought older people’s homelessness and housing stress to the fore as a major election issue, Housing for Aged Action Group is calling on the  Labor government to do more to ensure that all older people have safe, secure and affordable homes

The voices of older people without homes and those struggling to afford rent must be prioritised as the new Albanese Government seeks to address Australia’s housing crisis. We need to build at least 25,000 new public, community and affordable homes each year so older people, and others on low incomes, aren't left struggling to compete in Australia's brutal private rental market

This panel on May 13th ahead of the Australian Federal Election brought together independent candidates Zali Steggall, Jo Dyer, Hanabeth Luke, Liz Habermann, Jane Caro, Fenella Edwards and Nicolette Boele to put forward their positions in relation to ending homelessness of older women.

There are 405,000 older women at risk of homelessness in Australia. These are stories of four of them. Vanessa, Jo, Robyn and Lynette tell their stories in this powerful video.

With 405,000 women aged 45 and over at risk of homelessness in Australia, older women are speaking up, sharing their stories, and demanding political action.
