Federal Campaigns

Following on from the success of the At Risk forum in 2021 which mobilised hundreds of older people across the country to take action and demand change from their federal politicians, Housing for the Aged Action Group and the National Alliance of Seniors for Housing are taking the next steps to bring the campaigns demands to the federal election. We can’t afford another three years of inaction while older people are the fastest growing group experiencing homelessness in this country.

There is real momentum for change to address older person's homelessness across the country. Our voices are powerful. People speaking out and asking decision makers for action can shift government policy to improve housing outcomes for older people as a priority. This toolkit provides some tips for influencing your federal representatives

Request a meeting with your MP

We need to turn our awareness of older womens homelessness into targeted action. Use this form to send a message to your elected representatives in Federal Parliament to let them know they need to act now.

In our pre-budget submission we call on the Federal Government to increase the availability of safe, affordable and appropriate housing for older people at risk of and/or experiencing homelessness, invest in service systems to support older people before they reach crisis, invest in support for older people with a lived experience to have a voice in aged care, and invest in support for existing Assistance with Care and Housing (ACH) providers to transition to the care finder model, through the Primary Health Networks.
