Developing Appropriate Housing for Low-Income Older Persons: A Survey of Section 202 and LIHTC Property Managers
The rental housing crisis in America is having a profound impact on renters of all ages, including older residents. The federal government has responded over the years with a variety of housing strategies to help alleviate the problem. Public housing, for instance, continues to provide many affordable units, but the program has long since stopped building additional units.
This paper looks at two of the major federal production programs - the Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.
