Elderly Housing
This paper will begin with a brief account of the development of public housing for the elderly and this will serve as a background for the discussion of existing policies. This will be followed by a discussion on policies that have been formulated since the 1970s to house the elderly, particularly policy papers and Working Party reports published in the last twenty years. The final section will focus on the discussion of a few issues that have been identified to be closely related to the housing of the elderly, namely the relationship between housing and family care, community care versus institutional care, and the financing of housing for the elderly.
The examinations will aim at revealing the dynamics underlying the planning of housing for the elderly, as well as the strategies that one may take to ensure sustainability in future development of healthy living for the elderly.
