This report documents a collaborative project which sought to interrogate the experience of older women and the re ection of that experience in policy. The project sought an inclusive homelessness defnition, and to build a more robust knowledge base through which to inform policy and service delivery to this group.

In this paper we briefly review the demography and housing patterns of older people in New Zealand. We describe the impact of New Zealand’s climate and housing construction on health, before reviewing some significant health problems exacerbated by the indoor environment: respiratory conditions, coronary disease and hypothermia.

This overview of research on homelessness in the EU draws largely on the work undertaken by the European Observatory on Homelessness since its formation in 1991, supplemented by secondary literature from other sources.
There is considerable evidence on homelessness in Europe but our knowledge remains very uneven with a lack of data and understanding on some aspects of homelessness.

Residential care for the Elderly on the North Atlantic Fringe: Cape Breton Island, the Faeroe Islands and Northern Norway.
The purpose of this study was to examine if there were any lessons to be learned in the field of elderly residential care provision in remote, rural and island locations in the Faeroe Islands, Cape Breton and Northern Norway.
These locations provided examples of innovative and needs-led elderly care service delivery. They had universal, state funded and managed elderly care residential sectors.
